DIAMONDS4IF at the Lithium Symposium 2024 in Karlsruhe
On October 17, 2024, the KIT Campus South, centrally located in Karlsruhe near Karlsruhe Castle, hosted the Symposium on Direct Lithium Extraction that was co-organised by the EU funded project LICORNE.
This key event united leading experts from research and industry to explore the latest advances and technologies in direct lithium extraction (DLE) and encouraged collaboration and knowledge sharing to propel the development of this vital field. Among others the main topics discussed have been:
- Liquid/solid lithium extraction technologies
- Membrane & precipitation technologies
- Battery conversion
- Electrochemical lithium extraction & desalination technologies
- Concentration & purification of lithium brines
This year, approximately 100 organizations took part the symposium. PNO Innovation was represented from Nader Akil – who is also leading the exploitation activities of the EU-funded project LICORNE. During the morning industry session, Nader presented several funding opportunities that could support the exploitation of research and innovation activities linked to DLE; these latter include the opportunities and tools offered by the EU-funded project DIAMONDS4IF. He also provided insights on the Free Initial Self-Assessment tool and spoke on “EU Funding Programmes Supporting Research, Innovation, and Investment.”
The Initial Self-Assessment Tool is available online to help interested parties assess their project’s eligibility in order to apply for the Innovation Fund. High-scoring projects can receive tailored support from the Innovation Fund experts of PNO Consultants GmbH’s, including an initial Viability Check. This service ensures technical and economic feasibility, preparing projects for Innovation Fund applications and compliance with regulatory and market standards.
